Thrift stores are havens for slightly worn prom dresses

Thrift stores are havens for slightly worn prom dresses, homecoming dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and yes, even wedding gowns. Think about it. Most of these dresses are bought with the intent to simply wear once, especially prom, homecoming, and wedding gowns. Yes, it's correct, a lot of the wedding dresses you will find in the thrift store, like America's Thrift or any of the many local Goodwills, may be slightly outdated. There may be sleeves as well as an overabundance of embellishment, but when you want that sort of thing, do it now. The prom, homecoming, cocktail dress, cocktail, and bridesmaid dresses you'll come across will, for the most part, be current style. There was a David's Bridal bridesmaid dress that was $5.88 at America's Thrift Store off HWY 5 and was from this season's collection.

Finding special occasion dresses at America's Thrift Store is usually a hitormiss situation. Finding these kinds of dresses at Goodwills is a lot more promising. Plato's Closet can also have a great selection of special ocassion dresses, but be ready to pay a little more.

One word of caution: exactly the same rules of stain awareness apply, perhaps even more so when confronted with prom and wedding dresses. Just make close examinations and good choices and you'll save a minimum of $70 on your next special day dress.
